Built for Grove City homes.
Grove City was founded in 1852 by William F. Breck, who platted the village on the east side of Broadway with a school, a church, stores and a blacksmith in mind. It incorporated on 5 March 1866 and became a city in 1959, and it has grown steadily since — 41,252 residents at the 2020 census and an estimated 45,180 by 2025, across nineteen square miles.
William F. Breck founded Grove City in 1852, platting the village on the east side of Broadway with the intention of building a proper town — school, church, stores, blacksmith and carpenter shops. It was wilderness of oak, beech, maple, walnut and dogwood before that. The village incorporated on 5 March 1866, became a city in 1959, and grew 246.6% through the fifties alone. The 2020 census counted 41,252 people, with a 2025 estimate of 45,180 and a median household income of $93,161 as of 2024.
Nineteen square miles and 170 years of building means every housing era is represented, and the flooring job depends entirely on which one you are in.
Around Town Center and Broadway the stock is genuinely old — plank subfloors, joists that have settled, decks that will not take a rigid-core plank without preparation, and original hardwood turning up under later flooring. The fifties and sixties subdivisions that came with the 246.6% decade are plywood decks with layers on top and the usual accumulated height to resolve at casings and door bottoms. The newer building on the south and west edges is slab or engineered joist, open-plan, and finished with builder-grade carpet and vinyl that reaches its limit around year six.
Each of those needs a different first move. On the old houses it is assessing the deck for level and movement. On the mid-century ones it is finding out what is under the existing floor and how much height comes out with it. On the new ones it is checking flatness against tolerance and, where there is slab, taking a moisture reading before anything is ordered.
What does not change is the pricing approach. All-inclusive on most projects — flooring, cushion, removal, standard furniture moving, installation, transitions, stairs and subfloor preparation in one number — which is only possible because somebody looks at the actual house first.
Grove City is on the far side of Columbus from us, around fifty minutes. We still bring samples to the house, and the appointment is complimentary.
