How Much Does Flooring Installation Cost in Newark and Heath, Ohio?

Real installed price ranges for carpet, luxury vinyl plank, laminate and hardwood in Licking County — plus the four things that move a quote up or down.

Hardwood flooring installed in a Licking County living room

Almost every flooring conversation starts the same way: someone has a room they are tired of looking at, and no idea whether replacing the floor is a two-thousand-dollar job or a ten-thousand-dollar one. The gap is wide enough that people put the project off for years rather than find out.

This is what flooring actually costs installed in Newark, Heath, Granville and the rest of Licking County, at the sizes most people are working with. Every figure below is a professionally installed price: the material, the labour, taking the old floor out and the prep underneath.

What a 250, 500 and 1,000 square foot job costs

Two hundred and fifty square feet is roughly a large bedroom or a small living room. Five hundred covers most main-floor living and dining areas. A thousand is a whole first floor in a lot of Central Ohio houses.

  • Carpet runs $875 to $2,500 at 250 sq ft, $1,750 to $5,000 at 500, and $3,500 to $10,000 at 1,000
  • Luxury vinyl plank runs $1,250 to $3,750 at 250 sq ft, $2,500 to $7,500 at 500, and $5,000 to $15,000 at 1,000
  • Laminate runs $1,500 to $2,500 at 250 sq ft, $3,000 to $5,000 at 500, and $6,000 to $10,000 at 1,000
  • Hardwood runs $1,875 to $7,500 at 250 sq ft, $3,750 to $15,000 at 500, and $7,500 to $30,000 at 1,000

The spread inside each material is quality level, not a negotiation. An entry-level carpet and a designer wool carpet are both carpet, and they will not wear the same way or last the same number of years. Most households land in the middle two levels.

Why the same room gets two different quotes

When two companies price the same room and the numbers are thousands apart, the difference is almost never the flooring. It is what each quote includes.

Ask specifically whether the price covers taking up and hauling away the existing floor, moving standard furniture, subfloor preparation, stairs, and transitions between rooms. Those are real hours of real work. A quote that leaves them out will always look better on paper and will not be cheaper by the time the job is done.

Our proposals are written the other way round: the flooring, the installation and the project services are all on the page, including removal, standard furniture moving, carpet cushion, stairs and transitions, and subfloor prep. You should be able to see what you are paying for instead of reading a headline number that grows once the old floor comes up.

The four things that actually move the price

**What is under the existing floor.** This is the single biggest unknown in any quote, and it is why nobody can price your job over the phone. A flat, dry, sound subfloor needs almost nothing. A subfloor with soft spots, old adhesive, three layers of previous flooring, or a slope you have stopped noticing needs work first, and that work is not optional. Thin floors like luxury vinyl plank telegraph everything underneath them.

**The layout, not the square footage.** A thousand square feet in two open rooms installs faster than a thousand split across five rooms, a hallway and a set of closets. Cuts, transitions and doorways are where the labour hours go.

**Stairs.** Stairs are priced separately and for good reason — a flight of stairs can carry as much labour as a bedroom. If you are quoting a whole house, make sure the stairs are on the quote rather than discovered later.

**What has to move.** Standard furniture moving is included in our pricing. Appliances, pianos, pool tables, built-in units and anything that has to be disconnected are their own conversation, and the honest thing is to have it before the crew arrives rather than on the morning.

Budgeting when the number is more than you hoped

Two things help here, and neither one is cutting corners on the install.

Financing through Synchrony Home is available at 0% for 6, 12 or 36 months on approved credit, depending on the size of the purchase. For a lot of households that turns one uncomfortable number into a manageable monthly one without changing what gets installed.

The other is sequencing. There is no rule that the whole house has to be done at once. Doing the main living areas now and bedrooms next year is a perfectly normal way to run a flooring project, and it is easy to keep it looking deliberate if the materials are chosen together up front.

Getting a number you can rely on

The ranges above are for budgeting. They are not a quote, and anyone who gives you a firm quote without seeing your rooms is guessing.

Our estimates happen in your house. We bring the samples to you, measure the actual rooms, look at what the existing floor is sitting on, and leave you with a written proposal. There is no charge for it and no obligation attached, and seeing a sample on your own floor in your own light is worth more than an hour in any showroom.

If you would rather see the full price tables by material and quality level before you book anything, they are on our pricing page.

Common questions

Is the removal of my old floor included in the price?

Yes. Existing-floor removal, standard furniture moving, carpet cushion, subfloor preparation, stairs and transitions are all part of a Highmark proposal rather than extras added later.

Can you quote my flooring over the phone?

We can give you a budget range over the phone, but not a real quote. What is under your existing floor decides too much of the price, and that cannot be assessed without seeing it.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, through Synchrony Home. Depending on the size of the purchase, 0% terms are available over 6, 12 or 36 months on approved credit.
