Laminate in Etna, OH
Laminate is the hardest-wearing surface in the range and usually the least expensive way to get a convincing wood look across a lot of floor area. It is the right answer in rooms that take a beating and stay dry, and we will say so when a room is not one of those. Professionally installed across Etna.

Etna sits in the southwest corner of Licking County, in a township established in 1833 that had 18,896 residents at the 2020 census. It borders Pataskala to the north and reaches Reynoldsburg at its western end, which puts it right on the Columbus commuter edge. Most of what we fit here goes into houses built for people who work west and live east, and we bring the samples to them.
Etna Township was established in 1833 and is the only Etna Township in Ohio. It covers 23.4 square miles in the southwest corner of Licking County, holds 18,896 people as of the 2020 census, and sits entirely within the historical Refugee Tract. The census-designated place of Etna is in the middle of it, with part of Reynoldsburg reaching in from the west and part of Kirkersville from the east.
Geographically that makes Etna the seam between rural Licking County and the Columbus metro, and the housing reflects it. There are old farmhouses on plank subfloors with a century and a half of settling behind them, and there is newer residential development built for people commuting west, and the two need completely different treatment.
On the newer houses the questions are flatness and, where there is a slab, moisture. Open-plan layouts mean a single unbroken plank run across an entry, a kitchen and a living area, and a run that long telegraphs every high spot at a panel joint and goes hollow over every low one. That is a check against tolerance before ordering, not a problem to notice afterwards.
On the older properties the questions are what is under the existing floor and how far out of level the deck is. Rigid-core products bridge dips rather than following them, so either the deck gets leveled or the product gets chosen to tolerate it.
The other thing about a commuter township is scheduling. People here are often out of the house from early, and a floor going in means somebody has to be around. We are straightforward about how long a room will be unusable — a carpet swap is frequently same-day, a tile tear-out with leveling that has to cure is not — because an accurate answer is worth more than an optimistic one when you are arranging time off.
Samples come to the house, and the in-home appointment is complimentary with no obligation.

Laminate in Etna, questions
How is laminate different from luxury vinyl plank?
Laminate has a fiberboard core and a photographic wear layer; LVP is vinyl through and handles water better. Laminate often costs less per square foot at the same look. We put samples of both in front of you at the appointment.
