Hardwood Flooring in Saint Louisville, OH

Hardwood is the floor people keep. Real wood, chosen for species, color, plank width and finish against your rooms rather than off a chart, and installed over a subfloor we have checked for moisture first — because in central Ohio, moisture is what decides whether a wood floor stays flat. Professionally installed across Saint Louisville.

Hardwood Flooring in Saint Louisville

Built for Saint Louisville homes.

St. Louisville was platted in 1839 on the North Fork of the Licking River, and at 352 residents in the 2020 census it is the smallest place on our list. A quarter of a square mile, a few streets, and houses that have mostly been standing since the nineteenth or early twentieth century. Ten miles north of us, and small enough that we can usually do a whole house in one visit.

St. Louisville was platted in 1839 along the North Fork of the Licking River, and it has stayed genuinely small: 352 people at the 2020 census, in about a quarter of a square mile. The population has barely moved in decades — 346 in 2000, 373 in 2010 — which tells you there is essentially no new construction here.

So every job is a replacement, in a house that is old. That gives a predictable set of conditions. Plank subfloors over joists that have settled unevenly. Floors that are out of level enough to matter to a rigid-core product. Layers of previous flooring that have raised the finished height, so casings and door bottoms need attention when it all finally comes out. And, often, original hardwood underneath something somebody laid over it decades ago.

We will tell you when that original floor is worth keeping. Refinishing is not work we do, but covering something salvageable without mentioning it is not how we would want to be dealt with, so you get the information and the decision is yours.

Houses this size have one real advantage: the whole job is one job. A few rooms, a hall and a staircase can be measured properly at a single visit and completed without your house being a building site for a week. That also means the price can be genuinely all-inclusive — the flooring, cushion, removal, standard furniture moving, installation, transitions, stairs and subfloor preparation in one number — because there is not much scope left for a surprise once somebody has looked under the existing floor in every room.

Stairs are the exception that needs individual attention. Village staircases of this era are steep, narrow and rarely square, and we measure them tread by tread rather than estimating, because there is no reliable shortcut.

We are about twenty minutes away, which makes both the appointment and any follow-up simple.
