Stair & Trim Installation in Hilliard, OH

Stairs, transitions and trim are the details that decide whether a new floor looks installed or looks finished. They are also the most common reason a flooring quote moves after the fact, so we measure them at the appointment and price them with the job. Professionally installed across Hilliard.

Carpeted stairs

Carpet on stairs can be fitted waterfall, where the carpet runs straight over the nose, or upholstered, where it is wrapped tight to the profile of each tread and riser. Upholstered takes longer, uses more material and looks considerably better on an open staircase.

Either way the cushion and the fastening matter more than on a flat floor, because a stair carpet that is not held properly will creep down the flight over a few years and show as a ripple on every tread.

Cleanup and walkthrough

We clean up, and then we walk the finished job with you, stairs included, because they are the part people look at hardest.

Installed products carry a lifetime warranty, and since we service only the jobs we installed, the responsibility for how it holds up stays with us.

Stairs & Trim in Hilliard

Built for Hilliard homes.

Hilliard exists because of a railway. John Reed Hilliard bought farmland in 1852 and platted the town on 1 September 1853 around a station on the Piqua and Indiana Railroad, which made it a good shipping point for produce. It grew 823.4% through the 1960s and another 105.4% between 2000 and 2010, reaching 37,114 at the 2020 census. Old Hilliard is the original; the rest arrived in two waves of subdivision.

The fifties and sixties houses are plywood decks on wood joists with sixty-odd years of successive flooring on top. The issue is accumulated height — casings, thresholds and door bottoms all need attention when it finally comes out — and a deck that has never been checked for movement since it was built. Loose panels squeak, and a squeak is permanently unreachable once a finished floor is over it.

Old Hilliard along Norwich Street is the exception to both — a genuine mix of residential architecture from the town's early period, with the settled decks and individually-measured staircases that go with houses of that age.
