Luxury Vinyl Plank in Worthington, OH
Luxury vinyl plank gives you the look of a wood floor in the rooms where a wood floor would be a bad idea — kitchens, entryways, basements, anywhere with pets or a lot of traffic. We fit it over a properly prepared subfloor, because LVP is thin, and thin floors show whatever is underneath them. Professionally installed across Worthington.

The plank, the core and the seams
Luxury vinyl plank is a layered product, and the layer people ask about is rarely the one that decides how it performs. The wear layer on top governs how it holds up to grit and claws. The core in the middle — rigid SPC, softer WPC, or a flexible glue-down — governs how it feels underfoot, how much subfloor imperfection it hides, and how it behaves when the room's temperature swings.
Waterproof, as manufacturers use it, describes the plank. A waterproof plank will sit in a puddle and be fine. What happens at the seams, at the perimeter and underneath is a question about the installation, not the product, and it is the one worth asking.
Where each core makes sense
Rigid SPC cores are dense and dimensionally stable, which makes them the sensible choice over concrete slabs and in rooms that get hot in the afternoon and cool overnight. They are also the least forgiving of a wavy subfloor, because a rigid plank bridges a dip rather than following it, and a bridged dip becomes a hollow spot you can hear.
Softer cores feel warmer and quieter and hide minor subfloor variation better, at the cost of denting more easily under a heavy point load. On upper floors in older houses around Newark and Granville that trade is often the right one. On a basement slab it usually is not.
Built for Worthington homes.
Worthington was planned before it was built. The Scioto Company formed in Connecticut on 5 May 1802 under James Kilbourne, and by December 1803 the settlement was laid out as 160 three-quarter-acre lots around a five-acre public green. That New England plan is still the shape of the place, and the 2020 census counted 14,786 residents. Old houses, high expectations, and floors that have to suit both.
That history is visible in the housing. James Kilbourne's 1808 newspaper building at 679-681 High Street is the oldest commercial building in continuous use in the state; the Aurora Buttles House dates from 1818 and the Lewis Noble House from 1863. Around Old Worthington the domestic stock is of a similar age, and it behaves accordingly: plank subfloors, settled joists, floors well outside modern flatness tolerance, and frequently original hardwood beneath something added later.
We bring the samples to Worthington. Samples come to the house, the rooms are measured on the visit, and the proposal covers the whole project.

Luxury Vinyl Plank in Worthington, questions
Is luxury vinyl plank waterproof?
Water-resistant and waterproof constructions are both available. Which one suits your home depends on the room, the subfloor and how the space gets used — we go through that at the in-home appointment.
Can LVP go over my existing floor?
Sometimes. We inspect the subfloor and existing surface first and explain any leveling, repair or removal that is needed. Your new floor performs best over a clean, dry, stable base.

Slush, road salt, grit and every pair of shoes in the house: the first few feet inside the door take more punishment than any other floor. What holds up in an Ohio entryway or mudroom, and the details that decide how long it lasts.

How to Choose Luxury Vinyl Plank: Wear Layer, Core and Thickness
Two vinyl planks can look identical on a sample board and wear completely differently in a kitchen. What the wear layer, the core, the thickness and the waterproof claim on the box actually mean, and which ones are worth paying for in each room.

How to Choose Laminate Flooring: AC Ratings, Thickness and Water Resistance
Laminate varies more between good and poor than almost any other floor, and the difference is in numbers on the box nobody explains. What the AC rating, thickness, water-resistance claim and underlayment actually mean, and which are worth paying for.
